This route will take you to the eastern limits of Wielkopolska – to Kłodawa and Koło. To enjoy the highlights yielded by the area, you would need about 5 hours of your time.
Route length: ca. 25 km
Our excursion starts with a visit to Poland’s largest salt mine. On planning the trip, we have to bear in mind that the Kłodawa S.A. salt mine is an industrial plant in operation where tourist services are subject to the miners’ labour regime. Hence, you can only tour the mine on a weekday, the best option being prior appointment made with the Touring Management Office. Kłodawa itself is worth seeing as well, with its baroque former-Carmelite monastery and a classicist town hall. Then, you will make your way to Koło.
Once there, you will enjoy several attractions. We recommend that you start with the Museum of Ceramics Techniques. If you are part of an organised touring group, go for one of the interesting museum lesson offers. Not far from the Museum is a Franciscan cloister (just ask for being guided around and given access to the underground at the cloister gate) as well as the parish church whose walls bear unique inscriptions etched in their bricks. On touring Koło, you cannot miss its town hall and the gothic castle situated on the opposite bank of the Warta.
