PAKOŚĆ
Pakość is a town located in Kujawy-Pomerania Province, District (powiat) of Inowrocław, ca. 13 km west of Inowrocław.
The town’s northern part is where the Franciscans’/Bernardines’ church of St. Bonaventure is erected; it was built in 17th century on the Noteć river, using a local old castle’s walls. The castle was itself built in 14th c., in lieu of a former burg-city. It was in ruins by 17th c. The church’s front façade bears certain modest features of a renaissance style. Its 18th-century interior is maintained in a rococo style; the rich sculpted décor deserves the visitor’s attention. Above the entrance to Our Lady’s chapel, a 1648 painting by Bartłomiej Strobel is placed, showing a scene of Adoration of the Madonna.
At the north-east, a complex of extensive cloister developments of 1680, rebuilt at a later date, is adjacent to the church. A monument commemorating the insurgents’ departure in 1919 is erected near the church.
Should you like to access the Calvary of Pakość, you can park your car by the church (at 3 Inowrocławska St.).
