Koło is a county town located ca. 120 km east of Poznań, by the road to Warsaw.
In the interwar period (1918–1939), on initiative of Czesław Freudenreich, great-grandson of the founder of the Faience and Majolica Factory, the first Memorabilia’s Chamber was set up in Koło, collecting products made of porcelain, faience and majolica from the family manufactory. Efforts were taken after WW2 to reinstate and extend the museum activity. Today’s Museum of Ceramic Techniques, as presently structured, has been in operation since 1984.
The exhibits so amassed feature products from both Polish and European works. Moreover, historic, archaeological and numismatic exhibits are collected.
