A village in Pleszew commune, located 16 kilometres to the north west to Kalisz.
In the forest by the road to Kalisz there is an erratic block - the largest one in Wielkopolska and sixth in the country. It is called the stone of Saint Hedwig. This enormous piece of granite rock was dragged here by a Scandinavian glacier during the last glacial period. Its circumference is 22 m, the height - 5.5 m (of which 2 m are underground). Because of the unusual measurements it has been under protection since 1888 as an inanimate nature monument.
From the legends connected to the stone, the most famous one tells the story of knights sleeping underneath it. They are supposed to be the warriors fallen in battle against Tatars, whose death was changed into sleep by Saint Mary as a result of Saint Hedwig's intercession. The knights will wake up and fight once more when the Christian faith is threatened again.
The second legend tell about the demonic powers that have abandonded the Stone in the forest.
The Stone of Saint Hedwig can be reached through a marked walking trail from Gołuchów (yellow or blue). By the road from Pleszew to Kalisz there is marked driveway to the car park from which one can continue on foot.
