STAWISZYN
Stawiszyn is a town located in Kalisz district (powiat), 17 km north of Kalisz, by the road to Konin.
Built around mid-14th century, the endowment of King Casimir the Great, the church was destroyed by a 1706 fire and was renovated several times afterwards. This three-nave hall-like edifice has a lower elongated multilaterally enclosed presbytery. Next to the presbytery is a sacristry. A neo-gothic chapel (1876) is set on both sides of the nave corpus, on the south; a porch, dating to the same period, is situated on the north. Next to the façade is a tower with a neo-gothic copestone overbuilt in 1876. Inside is a neo-gothic cross vault from the latter half of 19th century. The baroque main altar dates to the early 18th c.; the two neo-baroque side altars feature four late-gothic sculptures from the end of 15th c., removed before 1706 from a former main altar at the Our Lady collegiate church of Kalisz.
