Situated on the Warta River, Poznań is the capital of the region, Province and archdiocese, and an important point on the Piast Trial.
The Museum of the History of the City of Poznań is a branch of the National Museum of Poznań; its seat is housed at the renaissance town-hall building since 1954.
The Museum collects items and resources that concern the history of Poznań – including documents, incunabula, artistic craft products, paintings and photos, as well as mementos of various sorts. In the ground-floor room, the visitors can take a picture of themselves with the Poznań Goats that used to horn each other on the town-hall tower until 1992; once replaced by a new pair, they have been displayed at the Museum.
On the upper storey, you cannot miss the Grand Vestibule – an interior with a unique ingenious vault featuring sixteenth-century renaissance decorations.
