The Przemęt Landscape Park occupies 214.5 sq. km. and has been protecting a fascinating post-glacial landscape since 1991. Most of the park spans the borderland of Leszno and Wolsztyn counties, although 20 sq. km are within Wschowa County in Lubusz Voivodeship.
About 40% of the park is forested. Pine forests predominate, although there are stands of alder, beech and oak as well. The diversity of biotopes has allowed different types of forest to thrive in this area and created conditions ripe for the evolution of many types of flora and fauna as well. The oak-pine group on the Wyspa Konwaliowa (Lily of the Valley Island) reserve is an interesting forest community. Lily of the valley appear in the undergrowth and are white except for their staminate filaments. The largest concentration of the 150 species of bird found here can be found on Jezioro Trzebidzkie (Lake Trzebidza) reserve. Nesting species of special interest include the greylag goose, crane, bearded reedling, western march harrier and many other species of predatory bird. As for mammals, there are rare species like beavers and badgers as well as game animals like red deer, roe deer and wild boar.
The countless lakes, interconnected via a network of ditches and canals, are a magnet for outdoor holidaymakers. The Wielkopolska Windmill Trail runs through the park, and there are quite a few walking trails and bicycle paths as well. The Gallery of Birds at the folk sculptor in Górsko is worth a visit, as is the post-Cistercian church in Przemęt.
