Superlatives likewise pepper any conversation concerning the Poznań Town Hall. The renaissance façade was put up during the reconstruction after the great fire of 1536 that destroyed the city. This led to the Town Hall being dubbed the most beautiful renaissance building north of the Alps, a description no less apt today. The décor of the Great Hall was altered during the same reconstruction. This has survived in the same form right up until the present day, making it the most valuable secular renaissance interior in Poland. The clock connected with the Poznań billy goat legend was also installed during the rebuilding mentioned above. The legend comes to life with the only presentation in the world - and a peculiar one at that - during which two mechanical billy goats butt each other 12 times at noon. Virtually every excursion around Poznań, whatever the age of the group, is arranged so as to fit in a viewing of the Poznań billy goats.
