DĄBIE
Dąbie is a town located in the Koło district (powiat), on the Ner river; ca. 20 km south-west of Koło, by the road to Łask.
A classicistic town hall stands in the north-western corner of the former market (at 1 Mickiewicza Sq.), opposite St. Nicholas’s church. It was built in 1811 to 1814.
This storied building is founded on a square-like layout, and has a tile-covered hip roof. On the roof’s centre is a round turret with a metal balustrade, with a flat cupola on the top. The façade is ornamented by a deep-seated portico set through the two storeys and contained within columns, with a tiny balcony on the upper floor. Above it is a garret with the town’s emblem. The front elevation contains a commemorative board to members of the Polish Military Organisation which was active between 1915 and 1919. The western elevation displays a board with cannonballs – a memento of German-Russian combats of 1914.
Beside the main corpus, two one-storey pavilions can be seen.
The building houses the Town and Commune Office today.
