GOŁUCHÓW
A county village located in Pleszew District (powiat), 15 km north-east of Kalisz.
The Forestry Museum in Gołuchów functions as part of the Sylvan Culture Centre, deployed in three buildings of historical interest. The Oficyna (Annexe) building contains a display of huntsmen’s trophies, forest-inspired works of art and museum objects related to the history of forestry. The Powozownia (Coach-house) building offers an exhibition showing the natural abundance of Polish forests, whereas the Owczarnia (Sheep-shed) displays machinery, appliances and implements used by foresters in their daily work. The Museum structures are surrounded by an extensive arboretum park. In the nearby woods, an enclosed 20ha area is the habitat to European bison, tarpan-type Polish horse, fallow deer and wild boars. The Park and the Show Animal Pen are connected with an alley along which a display of hunting appliances and breeding shelters has been arranged.
