Rakoniewice is a town located in the Poznań Lake District, 12 km south of Grodzisk-Wielkopolski.
The town’s centre features an unusual building which hides an extraordinary attraction. This former Evangelical church of 1763 houses today a Wielkopolska Museum of Fire Service. In operation since 1974, the Museum has more than 4,000 exhibits to illustrate the history and tradition of the Fire Service.
The ground floor area offers you an opportunity to see fire engines and fire-trucks, the oldest exhibit being a horse-drawn hose of 1776. The galleries, for a change, offer you smaller-sized exhibits and temporary displays. The collection of fire helmets – from the earliest leather-made to our contemporary helmets is quite abundant, shown along with various items of extinguishing and rescue equipment as well as fire-brigade standards, uniforms, etc.
