The city lies on the Warta river. It is the capital of Wielkopolska Voivodeship and the see of the Archdiocese of Poznań. It is an important point on the Piast Trail.
Museum of Etnography
is a branch of the National Museum in Poznań. From 1962 located in historical XIX-th century building of an old masonic lodge. The museum is a continuator of Towarzystwo Ludoznawcze wchich was formed in 1910 and is one of the oldest establishments in the country. People can see there rich collections of sculpture, paintings, folk clotches, embroidery, decorative art, ritual props and musical instruments from the XIX-th and XX-th century.
