St. Florian’s parish church
The gothic parish church of St. Florian stands east of the marketplace, in 700-lecia St. The building’s present-day solid was constructed in 15th century in lieu of a former Romanesque temple. A legend of Żnin bells is associated with the temple. Within the walls, cut stones from the original church were reused. The church was thoroughly redeveloped toward the end of 18th century. Its pseudo-baroque tower dates to the early 20th c. The three-nave interior is divided with huge pillars. The whole structure is covered by end-18th-century baroque vaults adorned with polychromes. The outfit is mostly from the late years of 18th c. Placed on the rood beam is a Passion group from 1st half of 16th century. The presbytery features stalls coming from a Blackfriars’ church demolished in 19th c. In the church’s northern wall, you can spot a gothic tile featuring St. George, walled in at quite a high level.
