The county city by the Warta river, located about 120 kilometres east of Poznań, next to the way to Warsaw.
The Town hall in Koło
The Town hall is situated in the middle of the Old Square. A gothic structure around 1390, was renowated in 1782. The thorough alteration between 1835-37 gave it a classical look. A facade was decorated with a portico, from the west the building gained two annexes connected with a high wall what created an inside courtyard. Above the edifice was a gothic tower. On 25th of May 1987 it collapsed, partially destroying the fragments of the Town hall. A renovation was long and is still not finished. In 2000 the main construction of the building was ready, 3 years later the tower was also re-built, now the annexes are waiting for their reconstruction as well.
Generally the Town hall has a basement and is two-tier, created on a rectangle plan. A hip roof with tiles. From the east into a solid is embedded a square tower wchich higher becomes an octagon. A clock is here. An alevation of the construction is rusticated, the top of the tower is bricky. The portico with 4 columns with a balcony on the first floor is ended with a triangular pinnacle with a crest of the town.
The Town hall is the main residence of the Town Council and Registry Office.
